When we decided that individual assessments need to be part of the process of helping companies with their people management systems, OPelix went looking for the best ones available. What we found was Profiles International, Inc., world's innovator and leader in employment evaluation. Profiles' assessment tools are unsurpassed in reliability, validity and usefulness. They provide the objective, accurate information needed for productive people management.

Profiles International, Inc. was formed in 1991 to provide business and industry with Twenty-first Century human resource tools that reduce "people problems" by taking the guesswork out of hiring, training and promoting.

The Profile is a multipurpose assessment that can be used for selection, training, promotion, managing, and succession planning. When it comes to making good human resources decisions, you can not have too much information. Who should you hire, promote, reassign? What kind of training will be most effective? How can I motivate most effectively? Who will do the best job? Until you know "The Total Person," you can not answer those questions.

The Profile Assessment provides the information you need, in a graph and descriptive narrative. It tells you about a person's thinking style and pace, their occupational interests, and their behavioral traits. With this data, you can make better_informed decisions for selection, promotion fit, self improvement, coaching, and succession planning. You can even use The Profile for job description development.

The Prevue Assessment . is the only tool specifically designed for business use that measures General Abilities (Numerical Reasoning, Language Skills & Spatial Thinking), Motivational Interests (Working with People, Data & Things) and job-related personality factors.

The Prevue is used to measure the characteristics of a company's best employees so a "Job Match Pattern" can be designed for hiring and promoting people who have "job-fit." It is also used to select the type(s) of training that will be the most effective for employees.

The Prevue has been validated with a multinational, multicultural, multilingual sample of more than 5,000 working people, representing a cross-section of the population. It is non-discriminatory, in the legal sense, and may be used for pre-employment selection without adverse impact. Psychometric statistics are available in a well-documented technical manual.

By comparing the characteristics of top performing employees to those of applicants or other employees being considered for promotion, your company can pinpoint the people with the best chance of success. That success will mean productivity and value for you!

The Profiles CheckPoint 360? Competency Feedback System is a powerful professional development tool that positively impacts an individual's growth, career and success within an organization. Unlike many 360? evaluation systems, the CheckPoint has been thoroughly researched and tested for reliability and accuracy.

There are two main features of the CheckPoint - first, it evaluates people in supervisory roles based on their competencies as a manager of people; secondly, it gets feedback on those competencies from the people who work under the supervisor, the peers of the supervisor and the boss of the supervisor as well as the supervisor him/her self.

The questionnaire is completed by the manager, his/her boss, the people who are peers (at the same level) and who work with the manager, and all those who directly report to the manager. Thus, the feedback comes from a complete 360? view of the manager's competencies.

The questionnaire asks everyone to rate the supervisor on each of 70 different competencies broken down into eight major Skill Clusters. They are: Communication, Leadership, Adaptability, Relationships, Task Management, Production, Development of Others, and Personal Development. The responses are sent by the respondent to a processing center out of state to assure anonymity.

The report gives a thorough, easy to understand analysis of the responses. It compares the manager's self perception of his/her skills to the perceptions of the people who work for him/her and those in positions to observe the management skills. The report also gives detailed suggestions for improvement in areas of weakness.

OPelix offers a seminar on the advantages of using the 360? evaluation system - Developing More Effective Leaders.

The price of the CheckPoint (total cost for assessment by the person being surveyed, that person's boss and up to 10 other respondents - direct reports or peers) ranges from $150 to $350 depending on volume. Packaged with other assessments the price of the CheckPoint can be lowered significantly.
